The 1940s into early 1950s was a great era for these elegant, glamorous and flattering cocktail dresses. This particular dress is enhanced by its sparkly artfully designed embellishments on the left upper bodice and center/right peplum. The bodice is gently fitted with diagonal darting in front plus vertical darts to the waist in back. Cap sleeves are kimono-style. The skirt is set off with a peplum that wraps in front and is becomes longer and swingier in the back. I believe the dress had fairly substantial shoulder pads originally - I tucked in pads from my own closet for a few photos - they are not included with purchase. If you like the padded look (I do!) they can easily be added.

CLOSURES: A side seam metal zipper, plus a short metal zipper at the back of the neck. The dress has thread belt loops at the waist, but the belt is long gone. I showed the dress with a black leather belt from my closet in a few photos - it is not included with purchase.
CONDITION: I have repaired a few small sections of open seams along the shoulder. No stains, holes or tears noted. The embellishments seem essentially intact.
